What is Torah Club?
The Torah Club is a messianic Torah Study Program. Torah Club is presented in six, separate, year-long volumes, keyed to the weekly Bible portions read in synagogues all over the world each Shabbat (Sabbath). The Torah Club is an in-depth study of the whole Bible.
You may ask, why study the Torah; it’s an Old Testament set of books that don’t apply today? The Torah is actually the very foundation of Christianity, the very book or scroll that Jesus read from when He visited the local synagogues each Sabbath. The way of life that Jesus lead and encouraged his disciples to lead was a life of correct Torah observance, not legalism. The Apostle Paul urged Timothy to “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved, a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.”(2Tim. 2.15) We likewise need to be people who study and know what God is saying to us so we can correctly follow His will for our lives. The Torah’s first and last aim is to teach love and kindness. Wherever people study Torah, the presence of God dwells among them.
This year we will be using Volume 3 — Voice of the Prophets
This study will take place every Saturday of the year. We meet from 10:30am to 12 Noon at the church; usually in the Hospitality Room. The new cycle will begin on Oct. 22nd, with our reading and studying from the Book of Genesis. This particular volume will not only give us the traditional Jewish reading portion for the week but will also take takes students through the synagogue haftarah readings—the section from the Prophets that accompanies the weekly Torah portion.
Torah Club Volume 3 will challenge you to:
- Look at End Times Prophecies from a Torah perspective
- Dive deep into the world of ancient Israel, kings and prophets.
- Enter the world of Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.
- Haftarah readings—the section from the Prophets that accompanies the weekly Torah portion.
- Take hold of the Jewish perspective on the prophets.
- Festival and special Sabbath readings.
